Wow, what a fun trip. Well, expect for my truck breaking down on the way. Percy and the rest of the team more than made up for my truck mishap. Dakota Hot Spots took me in like family and turned my rotten trip into a GREAT time with friends and Pheasants. Thanks for everything guys.
We had an unbelievable pheasant hunt at Dakota Hot Spots which is located at Kennebec South Dakota. The weather was beautiful with a 20 mph NW wind. We were hunting with a group of 10 hunters from Tennessee. They were very good shots and they wanted extra birds. Being that Hot Spots is a licensed preserve they could shoot as many as they could afford to pay. Our Omaha group consisted of 9 hunters and there were two walk on hunters. Percy, the lodge manager had just the fields for our large group of 21 hunters. We hit two large sorghum fields that had not been hunted this year. The fields were about three quarters of a mile long and wide. We had five blockers. There was some shots taken early and a lot of birds escaped half way through. But the last 200 yards were spectacular. There were roosters after roosters flying out at every end and it was hard to keep the guns loaded. We regrouped and got more ammo and worked the second field with similar results. A great number of birds escaped but in the end we managed to bag 91 roosters. I don't ever remember seeing that many birds at Dakota Hot Spots. And a quick check revealed that 66% were wild birds. And that is why we have been going to South Dakota for the last 20 years. I had the pleasure of hunting with Percy and the crew with the Norberg Paints Hunt and I have been to a few different hunting lodges over the years and this one takes the cake. Very down to earth people and an amazing place to hunt! The lodge feels like home and the food is amazing down home cooking! Cant wait for the next trip out! If you are looking for a place to take some customers, friends or family out for a blast of a time this is the place for you!

Dakota Hot Spots, After my third visit I returned home from another wonderful visit at your fun place, well you guys are getting better and better at providing a quality pheasant hunt. The pheasant, the guide service, food, and the friendship you offer your visitors is great. Thanks to you all, hope to return soon.

I have been out to Dakota Hot Spots 4 times now and it never gets old seeing monster flushes of wild roosters and hens. The overhead shots and side to side shots you get out at Dakota Hot Spots are unreal. I consider myself a pretty decent shot until I get out to Dakota Hot Spots. Somehow these wild pheasants will humble you if you didn't bring your A game. I hunt all over the state of South Dakota and this is truly a unique experience. My 3rd trip to Dakota Hot Spots yielded the largest rooster spurs I have ever seen hands down. I posted the spurs photo on the internet and pheasant hunters marveled at the "Gramps" rooster or "Super Spurs" as some called it. I'll probably never see spurs that big again in my lifetime.

October found myself and a friend in Kennebec, South Dakota for opening day of the pheasant season. Our hosts were those friendly folks at Dakota Hot Spots. What a great place to experience a once in a lifetime hunt! From the warm lodge to the managed fields and food plots. From the sporting clays course to the 4x4 converted hunters bus. These guys really know how to fulfill your highest expectations. Was the hunting good? It was unbelievable! I have hunted pheasant in Texas, Kansas and Iowa but never have I seen anything like this year in South Dakota! And with the great dogs Hot Spots provided, I don't recall a single bird lost that hit the ground. I just wanted to share my wonderful experience in your hunter friendly state with your readers. What a great resource the magnificent pheasant is for South Dakota. See ya'll next year!

Hunting at Dakota Hot Spots is an exciting event every pheasant hunter truly should experience at least once in their lifetime. In over fifteen years of avid hunting, I have never seen so many pheasants in one day. The party hunt was exceptionally well-organized and safe. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and experienced. It was a memorable day of hunting I will never forget. I almost forgot to mention the food!

Thanks for the great hunt. Have not seen so many birds in the air since hunting in Germany many years ago. This was the second trip to the lodge and it exceeded the first trip. Great hunting, Great chow, Great lodge and most of all Great people to hunt with and also great folks working at the lodge. If the legs hold out I will be back again!

Fantastic, outstanding, incredible and amazing! Many hunting lodges might boast such terms but Dakota Hot Spots delivers on these accolades. The habitat was fantastic, it was incredible to see the numbers of late season birds inhabiting the well developed patchwork of food plots and cover established for the birds. We saw masses of pheasants in numbers I have never imagined were possible. The staff is outstanding, everyone we met from the cook to the guides were nothing short of top notch, cordial and up-beat. The food was incredible and the quantity and quality were absolutely great - even the coffee was top-notch. And last but not least was the shooting - we experienced high-five drives with hunters hooting, hollering and laughing and the wildest chaotic group flushes of birds I have ever experienced - simply put, AMAZING! If you take the opportunity to hunt for the sharptails and prairie chickens I guarantee they will test your shooting capabilities too. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and are already making plans to return for a late season hunt again next year.
