The food plots are looking great in 2024! They are thick and full this year which will provide great cover for pheasants, and an even better place for our hunters to go after them! Don't let your 2024 pheasant hunting season be a bust, come join us at Dakota Hot Spots for an outstanding hunting experience!
Dakota Hot Spots is a family business with a farming background. Every year we plant hundreds of acres of food plots that will hold high numbers of birds. These food plots consist primarily of grain sorghum (milo) and corn. The food plots are stripped for easy walking. We also raise sunflowers, spring and winter wheat, soybeans, millet, and hay.
The cat tails along the shores of lake Byre provide incredible cover. As birds flush out over the lake, it offers a beautiful backdrop to a scenic South Dakota pheasant hunt.
We have many tree belts and cedar trees that hold birds on the property, especially during late season when the food plots fill up with snow. The tree belts (shelter belts) are key to a pheasants survival during the winter and even cover from predators. We have planted dozens of shelter belts on the property and continue to add more each year.
